Introduction to Songshan Lake Science City

Songshan Lake National High-tech Zone (Science City) is located in the central part of Dongguan, adjacent to Shenzhen Guangming Science City. The industrial park was established in 2001 and upgraded to a national high-tech zone in 2010, with a total planned controlled area of 103 square kilometers; in 2018, based on some areas of Songshan Lake National High-tech Zone, a total of 90.5 square kilometers of surrounding towns such as Dalang, Dalingshan, and Huangjiang were integrated to plan and construct Songshan Lake Science City; in July 2020, it was jointly approved with Shenzhen Guangming Science City to establish a comprehensive national science center start-up zone in the Greater Bay Area.

National level scientific research positions

Songshan Lake boasts the only pulsed spallation neutron source in China and the fourth worldwide. It has established one of the first four provincial laboratories, the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory. Additionally, it has collaboratively built 30 new research and development institutions with institutions such as Peking University and Tsinghua University. Furthermore, Songshan Lake is home to six universities, including Dongguan University of Technology, Guangdong Medical University, Guangdong University of Science and Technology, Dongguan Polytechnic, City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan), and  Great Bay University (Songshan Lake Campus).

Industrial layout exceeding 100 billion yuan

The new generation electronic information industry cluster with Huawei as the core has a production value of over 100 billion yuan. Relying on the three major city level strategic emerging industry bases, it has proactively laid out strategic emerging industries such as intelligent manufacturing, new materials, biomedicine, and new energy. It has one enterprise with a production value of over 100 billion yuan, six enterprises with a production value of over 10 billion yuan, 23 enterprises with a production value of over 1 billion yuan, seven listed enterprises, and 38 listed reserve enterprises.
